The branch had a meeting in the Royal British Legion, Cookstown, on Tuesday, August 26. The guest speaker was Oleg Alexandrov from Moscow who will delivered a talk on 'Russia and the Eastern Front in WWII' - known by Russians as 'the Great Patriotic War.'

Oleg runs a company called Three Whales which organises battlefield trips in Russia. His company has been organising WWII visits since 2001 as well as general trips to Russia since 1995. His visit to Cookstown came about after branch members Ernie Black and Maurice Clements befriended Oleg on one of his battlefield tours.

Oleg presented a very interesting, intelligent talk & had his audience enraptured. He answered all questions and showed a superb knowledge of both WWII and the English Language. The meeting was open to all and there was a turnout of more 200 for the event.
