Home Front Recall 2005

The Home Front Recall Exhibition included an exhibition and a series of lectures remembering Mid Ulster in the Second World War. When Europe was thrown in turmoil by World War for the second time in the first half of the last century little did the people of Northern Ireland realise how much their lives would be affected. Unlike World War One where the fighting took place hundreds of miles away, this time round the War came home to them.

The event was organised in its entirely by the Mid Ulster branch of the Friends of the Somme. Events were held over 5 days from Tuesday 5th to Sunday 10th April 2005. This highly successful event with had almost 7,000 visitors. Amongst the highlights were a BBC outside broadcast.
