The organisation shall be known as the
Friends Of The Somme (Mid Ulster Branch) of was formed
in September 1994. |
The group do not have their own premises
but meet monthly at the premises of the Royal British
Legion, Cookstown |

Objectives |
|
The objective of our group is to perpetuate
the memory, courage and comradeship of the men and women
from the Mid Ulster area who served in the Great War |
To create an awareness among both communities
of the sacrifice of their co-religionists in the Great
War. |
To provide the means to research the
details of Soldier's service records and places of burial. |
To provide lectures, visits to places
of interest on the Island of Ireland, Great Britain
and annual pilgrimages to France and Belgium |

Membership |
|
The group membership will consist of
persons in the "area of benefit" regardless
of Nationality, Religion, Political beliefs, Sex or
age. |
The committee shall have the power to
remove any member who commits an offence which may be
considered serious enough to warrant such action. Removal
of any such person would only take place at a duly convened
meeting of the committee with the alleged offender being
entitled to appear. |

AGM |
|
The annual General Meeting (AGM) will
take place on the last Thursday of September each year.
The members shall hear reports of the group's activities
from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. |
The AGM shall also |
consider, and if approved, sanction
any duly made alteration in the constitution |
elect the general committee and it's
officers for a yearly period |
consider any business as the general
committee desires to bring before the members and such
matters as are raised by the members at the meeting |

PROCEDURE AT GENERAL MEETINGS |
|
At all General Meetings of the Group,
the Chairman (and in his absence a member selected by
the meetings) shall take the chair. |
Every member present and entitled to
vote shall have one vote to every motion, and in the
case of equality of votes, the Chairman shall have a
second or casting vote. |

CLUB ASSETS |
|
The committee shall open a bank account
in the name of the organisation and shall specify these
members of the committee (being not less than two members
of the committee) authorised to sign cheques on behalf
of the organisation. |
The organisation's assets and finances
shall be used solely to further the objectives of the
organisation. At no time and under no circumstances
shall assets of the organisation be distributed among
members, either on an interim or a winding up basis. |
